EPIC likes to be a little original sometimes.
Each year, we work with our Players to develop works from their voice and story. This includes devised pieces, stand-up comedy, spoken word, and original playwriting.

Past Performances
The EPIC Underground
In EPIC’s Personal Narrative Class, Players learn to express their personal stories through spoken word, poetry, and stand-up, while learning to keep a narrative brief and meaningful. Every winter, we culminate this class in an original spoken word variety show called “The EPIC Underground” at a local indie arts venue. There, our performers have the chance to test out their new skills and material in front of a live audience.
The EPIC Underground took place on February 21 at Joe’s Pub.
EPIC Plays: Devising
Throughout the course of a year, EPIC works with our core ensemble of actors to develop an original devised show based on themes important to our Players. Past themes have included: love, independence, inclusion, and careers. Performances are held annually at A.R.T./NY’s South Oxford Space in Brooklyn.
EPIC’s Big Summer Musical
Throughout the month of July, during times of COVID, our Players worked to devise an original summer musical, inspired by some of our favorite summertime musical hits. Join our Players as they gather together during a virtual summer and learn about the importance of friendship, acceptance and perseverance! This performance is a hybrid of live scenes preformed over the internet and filmed musical numbers.
