    EPIC LA takes on the Broadway songbook for two nights of showtunes with Broadway guests, at a 299-seat house designed for neurodivergent audiences by Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services.

Thanks to everyone who joined EPIC Players LA for an extraordinary night of music and celebration at Lights, Camera, Cabaret: A Neuro-Inclusive Celebration of Hollywood’s Hit Music!

On April 30th at Dynasty Typewriter, we rolled out the red carpet for a dazzling lineup of performances that bring together neurodiverse talent and special guests, including Barry Pearl (Grease, Broadway veteran) and Trent Mills (THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, Little America, Tower of God).

This one-night-only event featured iconic songs from the big screen, reimagined by our incredible ensemble of neurodiverse performers.

EPIC LA Classes

 

EPIC works to empower our artists through access to skills based and professional development classes in the performing arts, so they may grow in their craft, their careers, and their community.

All classes are FREE for EPIC company members and range in topics from performing arts, design, and professional development.

EPIC classes are designed and led according to our “BE EPIC” method for adaptive, inclusive and individualized instruction. Each class features a lead/co teaching artist, a class supervisor and at least two EPIC Mentors, who serve as friends and coaches to provide individualized support as needed.

EPIC offers a hybrid roster of in-person and virtual classes. ​ See below for details.

  • Scene Study

    The Help Group in Sherman Oaks

    Tuesdays, 6-8pm
    9/8, 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 12/1

    Led by Ty Doran, this course will cover the basic fundamentals of scene study. We will talk about acting technique and character development in the context of scene work. We will apply said fundamentals through exploring scene work. You will be assigned a scene to focus on and present in a culminating showcase in December. Attendance for this class will be required and there will be homework each week to work on independently or with an advocate. While performers of all backgrounds are welcome, some foundational acting knowledge is recommended to get the most out of this class.

    Wednesdays, 6-8pm

    Led by an exciting lineup of guest teachers (and some appearances by your own EPIC mentors), this semester of EPIC Plays is going to have a new focused topic for each week! We will explore improv, voice, movement, play club, and much more! Performers of all experience levels are encouraged to join.

    Discover the exciting world of voiceover! In this virtual class, you'll learn the fundamentals of voice acting while developing the skills to bring commercials, animation, audiobooks, video games, and more to life. Through fun exercises, script work, and personalized feedback, you'll build confidence behind the microphone and explore new ways to express yourself. Performers of all experience levels are encouraged to join.

    Saturdays, 2-4pm

    Taught by seasoned playwright and soap opera writer Addie Walsh, this class will introduce you to the fundamentals of playwriting while exploring your creativity and developing your own original stories. Through writing prompts, collaboration, and feedback, you'll discover new ways to express yourself and bring your ideas to life on stage. Writers of all experience levels are encouraged to join.
